Dear Apex Elementary School parents and community members:
Congratulations to Keith Faison on his appointment as principal of Holly Ridge Middle School. While he will be missed, I am sure you will all join me in wishing him well on his new journey. Transitions can be difficult at first, but they can also be very exciting. As we look forward to Apex Elementary's continued excellence, an interim principal will be appointed to lead Apex Elementary until a new principal is hired. WCPSS uses retired principals as interims in order to draw from their many years of experience.
Apex Elementary has had many successes under the leadership of Mr. Faison, and it is important that we work together to find a leader who will support Apex's continued growth. I am committed to hearing from all stakeholders and listening to what characteristics and leadership skills you would like to see in the next principal of Apex Elementary:
All parents and community members are invited to the Media Center on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 4:30pm to provide input for the characteristics of the new principal.
The information from the staff input meeting, as well as the information from the parent input meeting, will be used to develop a principal profile and a list of questions to use during the applicant screening and selection process. This profile is a very important part of selecting the new principal.
As soon as the screening and interview process is complete, a recommendation will be made to the Board of Education.
Recognizing that this is summer break, if you are unable to attend the session, I invite you to provide input through email. Please send a message of characteristics you would like to see in the next principal to my assistant, Cindy Mukherjee at сmukherjee@wcpss.net. She will compile the comments for my review. In order to complete the list before interviews, send your messages by July 3, 2019. I look forward to working with you on this very important process.
